The South Dakota Association of Telephone Cooperatives Telecom Safety Program (TSP) provides safety-related instruction and training to telecommunications employees across the State.
The TSP is structured to provide a minimum of nine contacts between the safety consultant and the participating companies. These contacts consist of at least seven safety training sessions with employees, one manager/supervisor safety training session, and one field observation visit.
Some of the current seminars/training sessions being offered to South Dakota companies through the TSP include hazardous material communication, personnel protective equipment, lock-out/tag-out of equipment, confined space safety, risk associated with blood pathogens, train safety (“Operation Lifesaver”), DOT compliance preparation, and “Street Drugs and the Phone Company.” Upcoming training sessions scheduled for this spring will cover a number of topics, including things such as ergonomic standards, record keeping standards, in-house safety committees, vehicle safety and inspection (this will include mock DOT inspections for each participating company and related tips). TSP training is provided by Ladd McCluskey Safety Consulting. For more information on the TSP program content, email Ladd@SDsafe.com.
All telecommunications companies and telecommunications affiliated companies are eligible to participate in TSP. Join the Telecom Safety Program now by emailing ginigrannes@sdtaonline.com
